Damyang-gun Concludes 'Open Dialogue with Residents' to Hear Vivid On-Site Voices of Citizens

[Damyang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] The Damyang-gun "Open Dialogue with Residents," conducted in line with the phased recovery of daily life from COVID-19, concluded its six-day schedule on the 24th with great response.

According to the county on the 29th, County Governor Choi Hyung-sik, starting from Damyang-eup on the 16th of last month, held sessions over six days at Dambit Agricultural Center, Goseo Cultural Center, and Changpyeong Elementary School, adhering to COVID-19 prevention guidelines. He gathered about 500 residents to listen to their vivid on-site voices for regional development and engaged in candid communication administration with the residents.

Through this dialogue, 181 resident suggestions were received.

The county immediately took action by instructing the relevant departments to conduct on-site inspections and establish plans, and for urgent matters, reflected them in the first supplementary budget of 2022, aiming to take maximum measures from the residents' perspective.

A county official stated, "We plan to inform the respective petitioners of the review results and continuously manage the suggestions until they are resolved."

In particular, the county communicated by explaining major pressing issues such as ▲ post-COVID-19 response strategies through Damyang-style Green New Deal ▲ preparation for the railway era as a stopover on the Gwangju-Daegu Dalbit Inland Railway ▲ creation of premium residential complexes and urban regeneration industries ▲ strengthening development capabilities as an ecological environmental resource and humanities garden city ▲ future education policy directions to improve poor educational environments ▲ additional purchase requests.

Additionally, the county sought active participation and cooperation from residents on matters necessary for the region's future development and stability, including ▲ protection of "bamboo," the region's representative asset and an alternative species in the era of climate crisis and carbon neutrality ▲ hygiene, cleanliness, and waste separation ▲ urging additional vaccinations for COVID-19 response.

Governor Choi Hyung-sik expressed, "This dialogue with residents was an invaluable time as communication with residents had been difficult due to COVID-19. I will deeply cherish the valuable opinions gathered here from each resident and work harder during the remaining term to thoroughly complete various significant projects that have been underway, repaying the grace of the residents who have trusted and supported us."
