[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] NH Nonghyup Bank announced on the 29th that it will supply the 'Eco-friendly Passbook,' the first of its kind in the domestic financial sector, to branches nationwide and provide it to customers.
Until now, Nonghyup Bank has been striving to realize a paperless society in line with ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management by offering preferential interest rates when customers choose not to receive a passbook upon product subscription. However, some customers, such as the elderly who are not familiar with digital financial transactions, still have demand for physical passbooks. Through the production of this 'Eco-friendly Passbook,' the bank plans to strengthen customer-centered management based on ESG principles.
The 'Eco-friendly Passbook' supplied by Nonghyup Bank this time is targeted at customers who subscribe to savings and deposit products, and it will be expanded to other products such as checking accounts in the future. It is made from FSC-certified (international eco-friendly certification) eco-friendly paper. It features materials such as rice husks, recycled pulp, and soybean oil. The bank is currently pursuing domestic eco-friendly certification marks.
President Junhak Kwon said, “The 'Eco-friendly Passbook' was created to meet the demand of customers who need physical passbooks and to practice ESG management,” adding, “We will continue to actively participate in community efforts to revitalize the local economy and achieve carbon neutrality, becoming a reliable national bank leading ESG management.”
