[Jangseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Jo Hangyu] Jangseong's Golden Apple from Jeonnam will be featured in the largest sculpture exhibition in Korea.
The county announced on the 29th that the "10th Seoul International Sculpture Festa 2021," hosted by the Korea Sculptors Association, will be held from the 30th of this month to the 7th of next month at the Hangaram Art Museum in the Seoul Arts Center.
The county plans to promote its representative specialty, the Golden Apple, alongside the exhibition of a sculpture piece shaped like the Golden Apple by artist Jeong Chunpyo, a leading female sculptor in Korea known for her diverse works using apples as a motif, at the "10th Seoul International Sculpture Festa."
As this is a large-scale event, it is expected that the external image of the Jangseong Golden Apple brand will be greatly enhanced through the exhibition and promotion.
The Golden Apple, which the county began cultivating in 2017 as part of the "Golden Apple Development Project," has less browning than regular apples and contains more than twice the amount of vitamin C and malic acid.
Boasting rich juice, a crisp texture, and high sweetness, it has established itself as a representative fruit of Jangseong within just two years of full-scale shipment.
Currently, 41 farms participate in cultivating Golden Apples over an area of 14.8 hectares.
County Governor Yoo Dooseok said, "The Golden Apple was developed to pioneer a new market in the saturated apple distribution sector," and added, "I am confident that through this opportunity, the Golden Apple will capture the taste buds of consumers nationwide and firmly establish itself as the leading fruit."
