[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] The blueprint for the Chungcheong Regional Metropolitan Living Economic Zone has been unveiled.

The four cities and provinces of Daejeon, Sejong, Chungnam, and Chungbuk held the final report meeting for the "Chungcheong Regional Metropolitan Living Economic Zone (Mega City) Strategy Establishment Research Project" on the 29th at the Daejeon-Sejong Research Institute.

At the report meeting, nine major strategies and 30 detailed projects were presented across three key areas to promote the creation of the Chungcheong Mega City: industrial economy, metropolitan infrastructure, and socio-cultural sectors.

The three main goals were set as ▲establishing a super-regional innovation cluster based on global competitiveness ▲creating a flexibly expandable super-regional smart infrastructure ▲strengthening the competitiveness of the Chungcheong cultural tourism enjoyment network based on regional identity.

Based on this, the four cities and provinces of Chungcheong will pursue representative projects such as ▲establishing a drone and Urban Air Mobility (UAM) research center and a complex transfer center ▲founding a Chungcheong regional bank ▲creating a Chungcheong mega economic free zone ▲integrated operation of the Regional Innovation Project (RIS) based on local government-university cooperation in Chungcheong ▲establishing a shared university with a joint campus ▲developing the Naepo New Green National Industrial Complex and designating it as an economic free zone ▲building a Chungcheong national carbon-neutral cluster.

Additionally, they will cooperate on completing a super-regional arterial road network and metropolitan railway network, introducing eco-friendly and smart mobility centered on public transportation, establishing a metropolitan disaster safety management system, integrating water resource management systems, building a cultural tourism integrated brand using storymaking, and jointly hosting the 2027 Summer Universiade.

Meanwhile, the research project has been underway since November last year following the agreement of the four city and provincial governors to promote the Chungcheong Mega City, aiming to present the necessity and vision of the mega city and to discover projects. It is scheduled to be completed on the 13th of next month.
