Operation of the 'Digital Hyuksin Team' Organization... Successful Digital Transformation (DT) Implementation Case
[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] SeAH Holdings has been recognized by the government as a successful exemplary case of 'industrial digital transformation,' becoming the first domestic company to receive this honor.
SeAH Holdings announced on the 29th that it won the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Award in the 'Industrial Digital Transformation' category at the '2021 Korea Technology Commercialization Expo,' hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology, marking the first time a domestic company has received this award.
The 'Korea Technology Commercialization Expo' is a representative domestic event held annually since 2013 to honor contributors to technology commercialization and to facilitate communication among industry, academia, and research institutes. The newly established 'Industrial Digital Transformation' category selects companies that have achieved innovative digital transformation, and SeAH Holdings was honored as the inaugural recipient among domestic companies.
Since 2018, SeAH Holdings has operated a 'Digital Innovation Team,' composed of experts in IoT, big data, and related fields, to build process solutions applying digital technologies and has proactively led smart factory projects for its core affiliates.
In fact, SeAH Holdings developed a 'Spark Automatic Judgment Monitoring' system that converts the spark patterns generated by friction according to steel types into data and uses Machine Vision technology to enable judgment of different steel types. Additionally, it successfully applied a 'Material Tracking System' that tracks product process stages throughout production to affiliates such as SeAH Besteel Co., Ltd. and SeAH Changwon Specialty Steel Co., Ltd.
Notably, SeAH Holdings received high praise for establishing a sustainable internal digital expert training foundation by operating the educational program 'Digital Camp,' which allows direct experience of global digital innovation cases; launching VTNG, a specialized digital transformation corporation through the acquisition of startups possessing big data and AI technologies; and developing AI-based safety solutions applicable not only to steel but also to manufacturing industries such as construction and shipbuilding.
