[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunju Lee] On the 29th, Lee Jun-seok, leader of the People Power Party, expressed concerns about the Yoon Seok-yeol presidential campaign headquarters system led solely by Kim Byung-joon, the standing election countermeasure committee chairman. He explained that the reason was because Kim, the standing committee chairman, "does not have a proven track record in combat command ability."
On the same day, Lee appeared on CBS Radio's 'Kim Hyun-jung's News Show' and said, "It is very regrettable that the tentative recruitment of former People Power Party emergency committee chairman Kim Jong-in has been suspended, but instead, I am hoping that Chairman Kim Byung-joon, who has decided to take the lead alone, will demonstrate great capabilities."
Lee emphasized that the inclusion of former emergency committee chairman Kim in the campaign headquarters is absolutely necessary. He said, "He is a valuable asset that cannot be bought with money, so it is not about the price but about showing proper respect and inviting him. We must add a premium. Full authority must be given."
Lee, who learned through media reports the day before that the campaign headquarters and general headquarters chiefs, along with candidate Yoon, were scheduled to visit Chungcheong Province on the same day, said, "Until yesterday, before it was released to the media, I had never heard about going there. This is my schedule before being party leader. If I find out through the media the day before, I cannot make adjustments," expressing frustration over the lack of prior consultation.
Lee also claimed that there are forces trying to sow discord between former chairman Kim and candidate Yoon. He said, "After I became party leader, around July, people who tried to create discord between candidate Yoon and me through anonymous interviews are obvious, aren't they? Once anonymous interviews start coming out, it becomes a mess," he added.
