KB Kookmin Bank Establishes KB Metaverse VR Branch Testbed

Experimenting with New Financial Services Utilizing Virtual Reality (VR) Technology

Bang Gi-seok, KB Kookmin Bank InsighT Branch Manager, is demonstrating financial transactions at the KB Metaverse VR Branch.

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Sun-mi] KB Kookmin Bank announced on the 29th that it has established a testbed for the ‘KB Metaverse VR Branch’ to experiment with new financial services using virtual reality (VR) technology.

The KB Metaverse VR Branch features ▲building a realistic branch in a virtual space ▲developing a UI and interaction based on head-mounted display (HMD) ▲providing differentiated customer experiences such as one-on-one asset consultation using customer and employee avatars, and was built in collaboration with VR content specialist company Sharebox.

The VR Branch is largely composed of an intro, main hall, personal comprehensive counter, and VIP lounge. The intro visualizes the future KB Financial Town, and the main hall allows users to view personalized financial information through the ‘My Page’ menu. At the personal comprehensive counter, simple financial transactions such as remittances can be made, and at the VIP lounge, users can experience investment propensity analysis and portfolio design through consultations with employee avatars.

In the future, the KB Metaverse VR Branch will serve as a testbed for KB Kookmin Bank Tech Group employees to experience and accumulate new technologies and experiences. It will also be used as financial education content for teenagers.

Yoon Jin-su, Vice President of KB Kookmin Bank Tech Group, stated, “The purpose is to proactively respond to financial changes in the upcoming metaverse era and to internalize new financial service experiments and technological capabilities,” adding, “We plan to conduct various financial experiments such as real transaction tests through API linkage in the future.”
