"Reborn as Bags from Discarded Banners"... Shinhan Bank Launches 'Upcycling Campaign'

[Asia Economy Reporter Jin-ho Kim] Shinhan Bank announced on the 29th that, as part of its ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management practice, it will carry out an ‘Upcycling Campaign’ that collects discarded banners from the interior and exterior walls of branches nationwide and transforms them into fashion bags.

The ‘Discarded Banner Upcycling Campaign’ is a resource circulation and environmental protection activity that repurposes discarded banners used at branches by undergoing high-pressure washing, drying, and coating processes to reproduce them as new products such as fashion bags.

Shinhan Bank collaborated with the upcycling specialist company Upcyclist Co., Ltd. to create eco-friendly fashion bags that are unique in the world, featuring various colors and designs depending on the used banners. The produced bags will be provided by lottery to customers participating in the ‘Beautiful Courage Challenge Campaign’ held next month on Shinhan SOL.

A Shinhan Bank official said, “In line with the ESG slogan announced by Shinhan Financial Group, ‘Right Actions Toward a Wonderful World,’ we are preparing various resource circulation and environmental protection activities,” and added, “We ask for active participation in upcoming ESG-related campaigns.”
