[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] The Ministry of Science and ICT (MSIT) announced on the 29th that it will hold the ‘2021 Software Week’ from the 30th of this month to December 3rd to share and spread achievements such as software (SW) technology innovation, exchange information among industry, academia, and research institutes, and envision the future.
Now in its 11th year, the Software Week event will be held under the slogan “Multiplying Korea’s Value with Software,” featuring a total of about 20 events including conferences, exhibitions, and award ceremonies centered on the themes of future and innovation, people, and industry. This year’s event will be operated in various formats including in-person and online while adhering to phased daily recovery quarantine guidelines to allow participants to engage with a sense of presence.
On the first day, the 30th, ‘SW Quality Insight,’ which shares the latest trends in SW engineering technology and quality innovation cases, and the ‘Open Software Festival,’ aimed at promoting open software development and participation culture, will be held. On the second day, December 1st, events such as ‘SW GO ROUND,’ which provides expert coaching to strengthen IR capabilities of software companies and offers investment attraction and business cooperation opportunities, and the ‘Software Industry Outlook Conference,’ discussing next year’s software industry prospects and response plans, will take place. ‘SoftWave 2021,’ where about 250 domestic SW companies participate to exhibit and introduce the latest technologies and services, will also be held for three days from the 1st to the 3rd.
During the two days starting December 2nd, the ‘SW Talent Festival’ will allow participants to check the achievements of SW-centered universities and experience excellent works developed by students online. The ‘SW Safety International Conference 2021’ will feature lectures by domestic and international experts in the SW safety field. In addition, the results of next year’s public sector SW, ICT equipment, and information security project demand survey will be announced to support SW companies in establishing marketing and management strategies.
On the last day, the ‘AI Graduate School Symposium,’ attended by researchers from AI graduate schools, partner companies, and overseas scholars, will present the latest research achievements and discuss collaboration plans. The ‘Software Industry Day’ commemorative ceremony will also be held to honor those who have contributed to the development of the software industry.
Kim Jeong-sam, Director of Software Policy at MSIT, said, “If software is combined with companies’ innovation efforts, the value of companies increases not by simple addition but by multiplication. We hope this week will be an opportunity to discover future growth engines and seek business opportunities by utilizing software in various fields.”
