[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Jong-hwa] Hanil Holdings celebrated its 60th anniversary by presenting commemorative coins made of 10 don of pure gold as gifts to 1,004 employees.
Hanil Holdings was founded as Hanil Cement on December 28, 1961, and transitioned to a holding company in 2018, changing its name to the current one. It will mark its 60th anniversary next month.
The commemorative coins were delivered along with cards engraved with phrases expressing hopes for a sustainable company and the names of each employee. The anniversary ceremony will be replaced by year-end holidays for employees, with no special events due to COVID-19 considerations.
In August, Hanil Cement produced 600 sets of kits containing various upcycled products such as pouches, eco bags, and mask straps, made by recycling work uniforms discarded at all business sites, in collaboration with the youth startup company Anyleft, as 60th anniversary souvenirs.
Jeon Geun-sik, CEO of Hanil Holdings, said, "The souvenirs made at that time were used as gifts for customers with ESG values, meaning 'opportunities and experiences for youth, and environment and novelty for recipients.'"
