Sungsil Cyber University (President Han Heon-su), which has led the lifelong education field in South Korea for the past 24 years based on the Christian spirit and the educational ideals of ‘truth’ and ‘service,’ is recruiting new and transfer students for the first semester of the 2022 academic year from December 1 this year to January 11 next year.
The recruitment for the first semester of the 2022 academic year at Sungsil Cyber University, conducted for a total of 23 departments across 4 colleges, is open to anyone who has graduated from high school, is expected to graduate, or has an equivalent academic qualification. Selection is based on a combination of a descriptive academic plan (70%) written online and an objective aptitude test (30%), regardless of CSAT or school grades.
In particular, this recruitment includes the establishment of three new departments: the Department of Music in the College of Humanities and Arts, the Department of Financial Asset Management in the College of Converged Asset Management, and the Department of Environmental Safety Engineering in the College of ICT and Urban Infrastructure Engineering, accelerating the expansion of educational curricula to nurture talents in new fields.
In response to the Fourth Industrial Revolution era, Sungsil Cyber University provides education services optimized for a smart educational environment based on an e-learning system, state-of-the-art mobile-linked LMS hybrid applications, and web services. Lectures, exams, and assignment submissions can be accessed anytime and anywhere online via PC or smartphone. It is a regular four-year higher education institution where students can complete all credits required for bachelor's degrees as well as nationally certified and university-accredited certificates.
Recognized as a leading cyber university in Korea with an enrollment of about 6,000 students, Sungsil Cyber University has been promoting lifelong learning for graduates by introducing the university’s unique ‘Lifetime Free Course’ program since 2006. Through the ‘Lifetime Free Course’ program, students can freely take all courses in 23 departments during enrollment and continue to take major courses for free after graduation. Especially, when transferring as a junior from another major, students can take first- and second-year courses anytime on their preferred dates and times.
Additionally, benefits such as online credit exchange with over 70 universities including Sungsil University and Yonsei University, support for offline activities like domestic and international cultural explorations, on-campus clubs, certificate study groups, and access to Sungsil University’s central library and classrooms on the offline campus are also provided.
With tuition fees at about one-quarter the level of general offline universities and aiming to provide scholarship benefits to all students, the university has introduced various internal scholarship systems including admission, general, academic, clergy (pastors, evangelists, missionaries, preachers and their families and church members) scholarships, military scholarships (for military officers and their families, reservists), industry-sponsored education scholarships, scholarships for the disabled, and equal educational opportunity scholarships. All scholarship recipients also receive dual benefits from the Korea Student Aid Foundation’s national scholarships.
Jiyoung Kwak, Director of Admissions at Sungsil Cyber University, stated, “Our university has actively introduced and operated proactive educational curricula over the past 24 years to lead the rapidly changing times and nurture talents in various fields who can contribute to the nation and society. In particular, the ‘Lifetime Free Course’ program is produced with new lecture content every semester, not the same content, providing continuous opportunities for current and graduated students to acquire new information and knowledge, which has been praised for improving academic achievement and enhancing the value of lifelong education institutions.”
