DearDear, Joins 'Buy Nothing Day'... Official Mall Sales Suspended Until Tomorrow

[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] Dadam&c's eco-friendly camping lifestyle brand 'DearDear' announced on the 29th that it will suspend product sales on its official online mall until the 30th in observance of the 'Buy Nothing Day' campaign. Dadam&c is a media commerce subsidiary of CJ OnStyle.

The 'Buy Nothing Day' campaign, which began in Canada in 1992, is an event that exposes the evils of material civilization such as environmental destruction caused by overconsumption and encourages reflection on the lifestyle habits and consumption patterns of modern people addicted to trends and shopping. The event is held annually at the end of November, when full-scale consumption begins ahead of the year-end and Christmas, and in Korea, the Green Union has been organizing the campaign since 1999.

DearDear, launched on Earth Day this April, is fulfilling its corporate social responsibility through ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management activities, such as hosting plogging (an environmental protection activity involving picking up trash while walking or jogging) challenges and applying recycled PET bottle fabric to clothing to create a sustainable Earth. Participation in this campaign is also part of such eco-friendly activities.

To commemorate Buy Nothing Day, DearDear will hold a drawing for 30 customers who leave a message about environmental protection after signing up on its official online mall, awarding them a 'DearDear Folding Box.' This product is popular among camping enthusiasts as it can be used for storage as well as an outdoor table. It uses an eco-friendly material called 'Foresco Eco Board,' made by processing wood at high temperature and pressure, and is foldable for easy portability.

A representative of Dadam&c stated, "Since DearDear's main customers are the MZ generation who pursue 'meaning-out' consumption that expresses their beliefs and values, we plan to continue leading environmental protection efforts through various campaigns in the future."
