Ministry of the Interior and Safety Collaborates with Ministry of Education Over Past Year... Online Issuance Service from 3rd to 12th
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] Since the introduction of the school enrollment notification system in 1953, it will now be possible to check and issue enrollment notifications for all elementary schools nationwide online for the first time in 68 years.
On the 29th, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and the Ministry of Education announced that starting from the 3rd, an online issuance service for enrollment notifications for children enrolling in the 2022 academic year will be launched on the integrated administrative service portal, Government24. Until now, enrollment notifications were distributed to household heads (parents) by mail or in person at the town, township, and neighborhood community service centers, but there were inconveniences due to time and location constraints.
Accordingly, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, in close collaboration with the Ministry of Education over the past year, has established and launched an online issuance service for enrollment notifications targeting all children enrolling in elementary schools in all cities, provinces, and districts nationwide for the 2022 academic year.
Parents who are household heads wishing to use the online elementary school enrollment notification viewing and issuance service can access the Government24 website via PC from 10 a.m. on the 3rd until midnight on the 12th of next month to issue the enrollment notification for their child. Parents who receive the enrollment notification must attend the preliminary school orientation assigned to the student and submit the enrollment notification to the school on the same day.
Meanwhile, parents who are unable to receive the enrollment notification online through Government24 will receive it by mail or in person during the period from the 13th to the 20th of next month as before, and related inquiries can be made at the community service center corresponding to their address.
Minister Jeon Hae-cheol stated, “With the launch of the online enrollment notification issuance service, we expect to reduce the inconvenience for guardians of enrolling children and lessen the workload of frontline public officials,” adding, “We will continue to create faster and more convenient Government24 services through inter-ministerial collaboration.”
