A representative from Sohn's side informed reporters via text message on the 28th that "Former leader Sohn is scheduled to hold a press conference announcing his presidential candidacy on the afternoon of the 29th at a cafe in Yeouido, Seoul."
If Sohn runs, this will be his fourth bid for the presidency. Sohn previously ran as a candidate in the presidential primaries of the United Democratic New Party and the Democratic United Party in the 17th and 18th presidential elections, respectively, but finished in second place both times. In the 19th presidential election, he challenged in the People's Party primary but was defeated by Ahn Cheol-soo, the leader of the People's Party.
