Goal of 910 million KRW by February 14 next year... Love Temperature Tower Unveiling Ceremony at District Office on 25th... Contactless Donations via QR Code Available Again This Year
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Guro-gu (Mayor Lee Seong) is promoting the ‘2022 Hope Ondol Warm Winter Campaign’.
Guro-gu announced, “To help neighbors who are economically and socially struggling, we will carry out the ‘Hope Ondol Warm Winter Campaign’ until February 14 next year.”
The ‘Hope Ondol Warm Winter Campaign’ is a project to raise welfare funds to support neighbors in urgent need or those in welfare blind spots. Every year, Guro-gu collects donations and goods together with the Seoul Community Chest of Korea and the Guro Hope Welfare Foundation. This year’s target amount is 910 million won, the same as last year.
Those who wish to participate can donate money to the Seoul Community Chest of Korea’s Guro-gu account and submit a cash deposit form to the Welfare Policy Division of the district office.
Donations in kind such as rice, kimchi, blankets, and clothing can be given to the Welfare Policy Division of the district office or local community service centers.
Guro-gu will also conduct non-face-to-face donations using QR codes this year, following last year. You can scan the QR codes found on the notices or donation boxes at each community service center or on the district office’s website. This year, the process has been simplified compared to last year, making non-face-to-face donations more convenient.
Donors will receive donation certificates and donation receipts, which provide tax deduction benefits. The collected donations and goods will be used for welfare projects to support neighbors in need, such as basic livelihood security recipients and elderly living alone in the area.
To encourage residents’ participation and promote the project, Guro-gu held an unveiling ceremony for the ‘Love Thermometer’ at the district office plaza on the 25th. To prevent COVID-19, only a minimal number of people attended, including Lee Seong, Mayor of Guro-gu, Park Dong-ung, Chairperson of the Guro District Council, Jo Yoon-jang, Chairman of the Guro Hope Welfare Foundation, and Kim Jin-gon, Secretary General of the Seoul Community Chest of Korea, and the event was conducted briefly.
A Guro-gu official said, “The accumulated sharing can be a great help to neighbors in need,” and added, “We ask for the interest and participation of all residents so that everyone can spend a warm winter in body and mind.”
