[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] Incheon City announced on the 28th that the area north of Jemulpo Station has been designated as an 'Urban Public Housing Complex Project Planned District.'
With this, it became the first urban complex project planned district designated by a local government head among the 65 urban complex project lead candidate sites selected by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport as the 4th candidate sites for the '3080+ Metropolitan Area Housing Supply Plan (2·4 Measures)'.
The area around Jemulpo Station had been difficult for private development since the redevelopment promotion district was lifted in 2010. However, the city expects that if it is developed in connection with the Dohwa District urban development project through residential environment improvement and living SOC supply following the selection as a 3080+ candidate site, it will be revitalized as a very excellent area centered on the station area.
To this end, the city held a second briefing session at JST Jemulpo Smart Town on the 15th, and is currently conducting a public inspection notice to collect residents' opinions through consultations with related organizations.
The public inspection documents for the district designation can be viewed at the Michuhol-gu Urban Maintenance Division or the Incheon Urban Corporation field office. The inspection period is from the 29th of this month to the 12th of next month.
An official from Incheon City stated, "We will proceed with procedures such as collecting residents' opinions, gathering residents' consent forms, and reviewing by the Urban Planning Committee to support the district designation within this year." He added, "In addition, we plan to hold briefing sessions soon for the candidate sites of Gulpocheon Station and Dongam Station."
The urban complex project is a project led by public institutions such as the Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) to supply new housing by high-density development of old areas within the city, such as station areas, low-rise residential areas, and semi-industrial areas.
