[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Soyoung] Attorney Kwon Kyung-ae, who was a co-author of the 'Black Book on Cho Kuk,' described the breakdown of negotiations between Yoon Seok-yeol, the People Power Party's presidential candidate, and former emergency committee chairman Kim Jong-in as a "modern-day Gimyosahwa." The Gimyosahwa was an incident in 1519 where the Hungu faction, who installed King Jungjong, purged the reformist Sarim faction led by Jo Gwang-jo.
On the 28th, Attorney Kwon wrote on her Facebook, "When the breaking news came that Candidate Yoon and former Chairman Kim were meeting at Dalgaebi Restaurant, I sensed it was the last supper of a breakup ritual. Dalgaebi Restaurant seemed to be the place where the strange rites of a modern-day Gimyosahwa would be performed," she began.
She said, "The forces spreading the theory of Kim Jong-in as the 'retired king' have ultimately won," adding, "Those welcoming the breakdown of negotiations are not only the 'Three Gongshin'?Kwon Seong-dong, Jang Je-won, and Yoon Han-hong?whom former Chairman Kim called the 'door knob trio.' The Democratic Party, which fiercely attacked former Chairman Kim as the 'retired king,' is probably struggling to suppress their bursting cheers."
She continued, "Those who confirmed and executed the meeting at Dalgaebi Restaurant as a 'final ultimatum'?the losers are both former Chairman Kim and Candidate Yoon," and also claimed, "The symbol of Candidate Yoon's defeat is Assemblyman Kim Seong-tae."
Regarding former Assemblyman Kim Seong-tae, who voluntarily resigned from his position as head of the functional division of the campaign headquarters, and Candidate Yoon's comment that "he could not remember the daughter's incident because it was a long time ago," Attorney Kwon said, "It means that the campaign headquarters' composition is entirely entrusted to someone else. It is openly rumored that Assemblyman Jang Je-won led the campaign headquarters' personnel appointments."
She added, "It seems to be a secret known only to those familiar with the situation," and "Former Chairman Kim, who explicitly criticized the 'door knob trio,' surely knows this."
She also emphasized, "In my view, the Dalgaebi dinner was a modern-day Gimyosahwa," and "It has become clear that even a very conservative and rational stance, which merely advocates for alleviating poverty and accompanying the weak, cannot be accepted."
She explained, "The old strategist who simply requested, 'Since I have no faction, please focus some of the power's sunlight on me,' was elegantly and strangely settled in a public dinner setting."
She concluded, "King Jungjong ascended the throne riding on the backs of the Hungu faction ministers, but Candidate Yoon was carried on the shoulders of the people who made him the presidential candidate," and "The people's will that placed him there is urgency regarding real estate, Lee Jae-myung, and fair rule of law. If this is forgotten, the people will withdraw their support from the candidate at any time."
