[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Seon-ae] NH Investment & Securities announced on the 28th that the 2nd Big Data Competition, "Data Becomes Culture," has successfully concluded.
The presentation and awards ceremony took place on the 26th at the Park One NH Financial Tower, the headquarters in Yeouido, Seoul.
Jung Young-chae, CEO of NH Investment & Securities, said, "Through the Big Data Competition, we provided university students with opportunities to utilize financial industry big data, which is usually difficult to access, and we will continue to hold forums to discuss students' innovative ideas together. We hope that participants will continue to grow as key figures in the field of data analysis."
The competition was held over three months from August 23 to the 26th, with 744 teams from 109 domestic and international universities applying. Among them, 50 teams passed the preliminary round, and 16 teams were selected through the final round. A presentation was held for the top six teams to determine the final awardees.
The awards ceremony was conducted in compliance with COVID-19 prevention guidelines. The grand prize was awarded to the "AVCD" team (Lee Jin-mo, Lee Eun-seo, Lim Joo-eun), composed of students from Sungkyunkwan University. They received high praise for their proposal "Renewing Investment as Culture," which included "stimulating interest through team composition," "securing stock diversity through real-time issue stock recommendations," and "enhancing accessibility by transitioning to an app-based service" aimed at Generation Z.
The total prize money amounted to 50 million KRW, with the grand prize winner receiving 10 million KRW, two excellence award teams receiving 5 million KRW each, three encouragement award teams receiving 3 million KRW each, and ten honorable mention teams receiving 1 million KRW each. Award-winning teams are granted exemption from document screening when applying for NH Investment & Securities. Additionally, teams that won the grand prize and excellence awards are offered experiential internships.
