Improvement Plan for Supplying Stream Maintenance Water to Jangjicheon, Neungancheon, and Beolmalcheon

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Songpa-gu (Mayor Park Seong-su) announced that on the 25th, it held the 'Songpa Dullegil Season 2 Jangji Stream Han River Water Supply Project Groundbreaking Ceremony' at Wirye Island (tentative name) in Jangji Lake Park, Wirye New Town.

The 'Songpa Dullegil Season 2 Jangji Stream Han River Water Supply Project' is a project to supply river maintenance water from the Han River waterway to Jangji Stream in the Wirye Residential District to secure residents' waterfront spaces and restore the ecosystem.

To this end, the district signed the 'Songpa-gu-Hanam City River Maintenance Water Supply Improvement Project Basic Agreement' in May, and with the groundbreaking ceremony held on the 25th as a starting point, construction will officially begin.

The district plans to conduct a test water flow in March next year and operate a trial during the summer season, aiming to complete the project by October 2022.

Once completed, a total of 20,000 tons per day (up to 40,000 tons) of river maintenance water will be supplied to Jangji Stream, which originates from Cheongnyangsan in Hanam City and flows into Songpa-gu.

Along with this, a water quality purification project will be simultaneously carried out at Jangji Lake Park (tentative name), created as Jangji No.1 Retention Basin, a disaster prevention facility, to develop it into a premium lake park.

In particular, as part of the 'Songpa Dullegil Season 2' project that connects Songpa's history and modernity with nature, this project includes the supply of Han River water to Neungan Stream and Beolmal Stream in Hanam City, the upper stream areas of Seongnae Stream, and is expected to enrich the ecosystem connected from the Han River to Namhansanseong.

The district expects that once the Han River water supply to Jangji Stream in the Wirye Residential District and the creation of a lake (waterside) park in Wirye District are completed, it will create a synergy effect with the 'Songpa Dullegil' and play a significant role in improving residents' quality of life.

Although the project should be carried out by SH Corporation and LH Corporation, the project implementers of Wirye New Town, considering the difficulty of excavation work in the existing urban area section and the existing ecological stream Seongnae Stream for early completion of Wirye New Town, Songpa-gu will directly implement the project.

Park Seong-su, Mayor of Songpa-gu, stated, "With this project, clear Han River water will flow into the southeastern water system, enriching the ecosystem and enhancing the value of nature," adding, "We will strive to ensure the project is completed without setbacks and contribute to the local economy and residents' quality of life based on the improved ecological environment."
