Regional National Universities 2022 Academic Year Regular Admission CSAT Subject-wise Reflection Ratios (Data Provided by Jinhaksa)
[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] Regional base national universities, excluding Seoul National University, will select a total of 11,510 students through the 2022 regular admissions.
According to Jinhaksa on the 27th, by recruitment group, 5,534 students will be selected in Group B, 5,106 in Group A, and 870 in Group C. The university selecting the most students is Kyungpook National University (1,732 students), and the one selecting the fewest is Gyeongsang National University (825 students).
Among the nine regional base national universities, Kangwon National University and Jeju National University use percentile scores among CSAT indicators, while Gyeongsang National University and Chungbuk National University use standard scores. Other universities use both standard scores and converted standard scores in calculating the university-converted scores.
The indicators used by each university can significantly affect the calculation of university-converted scores, which include additional points, so it is necessary to check the advantages and disadvantages accordingly. Even when applying the same additional points, the impact is greater when applied to standard scores compared to percentiles.
All nine universities allow students from humanities fields (Probability and Statistics, Social Studies) to apply to some natural science departments. However, since some universities grant additional points to students who took Calculus or Geometry in Mathematics or Science Inquiry subjects, humanities students must consider the university-converted scores carefully when applying to natural science departments.
For example, Jeju National University grants an additional 10-15% to students who took Calculus or Geometry in Mathematics and 10% to those who took Science Inquiry, while Kangwon National University grants 10% additional points to students who took Calculus or Geometry in Mathematics and Science Inquiry respectively.
Comprehensively reviewing the reflection methods for each CSAT subject area increases the likelihood of achieving the desired admission results.
Woo Yeoncheol, director of the Jinhaksa Admission Strategy Research Institute, said, "Although the preference for regional base national universities has recently declined, these universities still have many strengths. First, they have excellent outputs including regional quotas in public institutions," adding, "Considering affordable tuition and living expenses, and the stability as national universities, their status may actually rise in the future as the school-age population decreases. It is worth considering that examinees make decisions from more diverse perspectives and apply to national universities."
