According to the quarantine authorities, Seoul city, and other local governments on the 26th, from midnight to 9 p.m. nationwide, a total of 3,281 new confirmed COVID-19 cases were reported. This is the total number of cases from 16 out of 17 provinces and cities, excluding Busan.
Compared to 3,229 confirmed cases at the same time the previous day, this is 52 more cases. It is also 385 more than the 2,896 cases reported at the same time one week ago on the 19th.
By region, there were 2,669 cases in the metropolitan area and 612 cases in non-metropolitan areas. By city and province, Seoul reported 1,587 cases, Gyeonggi 794 cases, and Incheon 288 cases in order. Gyeongbuk had 92 cases, Gangwon 84 cases, Gyeongnam and Chungnam each 78 cases, Daegu 65 cases, Daejeon 37 cases, Jeonnam 36 cases, Chungbuk and Gwangju each 35 cases, Jeonbuk 30 cases, Jeju 27 cases, Sejong 8 cases, and Ulsan 7 cases.
The number of new confirmed cases announced at midnight, when the tally is finalized, is expected to approach 4,000. The fourth domestic wave, which began in early July, has been ongoing for more than four months.
