[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Gyeongsang National University announced on the 26th that the Shintongbangtong Team (Master's course Jo Gwi-rae, Bachelor's course Kang Yu-bin, Kim Chae-min, Baek Beom-su) from the Department of Information Statistics, College of Natural Sciences, Machine Learning Laboratory, won the Grand Prize in the analysis category at the '2021 Big Data Contest' hosted by Changwon City.


Changwon City held the 'Big Data Contest' for university students nationwide to collect various policy ideas using public data and to promote the atmosphere of big data analysis projects.


In this contest, 40 teams nationwide participated in two categories: planning and analysis. After evaluation by related departments and external experts, six teams were finally selected. The award ceremony was held on the 17th.


As Changwon City is promoting hydrogen trams as an innovation measure for public transportation, the Shintongbangtong Team attracted attention by using big data under the theme of 'Optimal Location Selection for Hydrogen Tram Stations,' analyzing overall traffic volume data to specifically propose the optimal station locations.


Team leader Baek Beom-su stated, “It was an honor to contribute even a small opinion to making Changwon City grow centered on the hydrogen industry in line with the future.”
