[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Juhyung] A video showing a police officer grabbing and shaking the hair of a drunken woman on a street in Seomyeon, Busan has sparked controversy. The police have launched an internal investigation into the officer captured in the video.
The problematic video was uploaded on YouTube and social media platforms on the 5th. In the video, a drunken woman is seen sitting down on the spot and throwing her shoes in a tantrum, after which one of the police officers grabs and shakes her hair. The woman then appears to swing her fist as if trying to hit the police officer.
According to the police, the two officers appearing in the video belong to the Seomyeon Police Substation. They responded around 11 p.m. on the 4th to a report of "a drunken woman on a street in Seomyeon." The video seems to have been recorded during the process of the officers restraining the intoxicated woman.
Currently, the police have placed Officer A, who grabbed and shook the woman's hair, on administrative leave and are conducting an internal investigation related to the incident. After accurately determining the circumstances through the investigation, the police plan to take appropriate measures against Officer A.
