[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jun-yi] The People Power Party's election committee has started under the leadership of Kim Byung-joon as the standing election committee chairman, while former People Power Party emergency committee chairman Kim Jong-in continues to remain silent.

On the morning of the 26th, Kim Jong-in met with reporters at his office in Gwanghwamun and, when asked about the formation of the election committee and Chairman Kim Byung-joon, he said, "I have nothing to say, so why do you keep asking?" and reiterated, "There is no need to answer such questions."

He also refrained from giving any specific answers to questions such as "It is said that Yoon Seok-yeol, the People Power Party presidential candidate, is trying to bring in former Chairman Kim," and "Chairman Kim Byung-joon said he would do his best."

However, when asked, "Can we assume that you are not considering the position of overall election committee chairman?" Kim nodded twice. When a reporter asked again about his nodding, he retorted, "Are you asking what the meaning of my nodding is?"

This has led to analyses suggesting that he is effectively refusing to join the election committee.

Earlier, Kim Byung-joon visited the People Power Party headquarters in Yeouido, Seoul, in the morning, met with candidate Yoon, and held a press conference. Kim Byung-joon stated, "I plan to devote everything I have to this election," and added, "Starting tomorrow, I will come to the standing chairman's office at the party headquarters and do everything I can."
