[Asia Economy Reporter Yoon Seul-gi] Lim Seung-ho, spokesperson for the People Power Party, criticized the delay in forming the party's election campaign committee, saying, "The public and party members are very dissatisfied that a proper election campaign committee has not been presented to the people for over nearly two weeks."
On the 25th, Lim appeared on TBS Radio's "Shin Jang-sik's Shin Jang Opening" and said, "I think it is necessary to quickly resolve the issues related to Chairman Kim Jong-in at the leadership or campaign committee level."
Earlier, on the 24th, Lim posted on his Facebook, expressing frustration with the current party situation, saying, "Looking at the party these days is frustrating. Just a few months ago, it felt like a fresh engine full of vitality is now dying out," pointing out the conflict between presidential candidate Yoon Seok-yeol and former emergency committee chairman Kim Jong-in over the appointment of the campaign committee.
Lim added, "Many say that my post targeted the old boys, but that is not the case. It is natural to appoint experienced people who took important roles during the formation of the campaign committee. However, whether Chairman Kim Jong-in is involved or not, the campaign committee should be one that can impress the public. From that perspective, I personally think it is fine to have a small and solid organization rather than a mammoth-sized campaign committee."
He continued, "It is most important to quickly present to the public and party members what policies we will show against candidate Lee Jae-myung through a small and solid organization."
Regarding whether former emergency committee chairman Kim will join the campaign committee, Lim said, "Candidate Yoon himself has never expressed that Chairman Kim Jong-in is unnecessary in that way. However, borrowing words from people close to candidate Yoon, there have recently been many remarks that could be seen as greatly belittling Chairman Kim Jong-in. I think those key figures should be a bit more cautious."
Meanwhile, candidate Yoon appointed six general headquarters chiefs at the 'division commander' level on the 25th, leaving the position of overall campaign committee chairman for former emergency committee chairman Kim Jong-in vacant. The appointments are: former Jeju Governor Won Hee-ryong as head of the Policy General Headquarters, Representative Joo Ho-young as head of the Organization General Headquarters, former Representative Kim Sung-tae as head of the Functional General Headquarters, Party Leader Lee Jun-seok as head of the Public Relations and Media General Headquarters, Representative Kwon Young-se as head of the General Special Advisory Group, and Secretary-General Kwon Seong-dong as head of the Comprehensive Support General Headquarters.
