‘4 AI Idols’ Rise! ... Dongseo University to Showcase Metaverse Production Performance on the 29th

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Trainee Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] An AI-generated 'virtual idol' will perform in a metaverse concert.

Dongseo University will hold the 'AI Virtual Idol Metaverse Concert' on the 29th at 4 p.m. at Sohyang Art Hall on the 2nd floor of the New Millennium Building at Dongseo University.

Dongseo University was selected as a platform institution for the '2021 AI-Linked Content Innovative Talent Training Project' supported by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Creative Content Agency.

The university planned an idol performance using AI technology in the cultural and artistic content field as the first outcome of AI+Content convergence education based on the 'AI+X Lab' of the SW-Centered Project Group.

Twenty-two trainees received six months of training with Pulse9, a graphic AI specialized company participating in the project.

The trainees created four virtual idols using AI and had the idols perform songs written and composed by AI.

A mixed metaverse musical performance featuring actual musical actors and virtual actors will also be held.

The concert will take place at Sohyang Art Hall and will be streamed simultaneously on YouTube.

Dongseo University stated, "We will nurture 4th Industrial Revolution talents connecting musical theater, broadcasting, computer graphics, and AI technology fields."

Kim Ki-hong, head of the AI-Linked Content Creative Talent Training Project Group, said, "We will create an AI-based content production education platform to demonstrate a new content production paradigm."
