[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heung-soon] Samsung Electronics announced on the 25th that its lifestyle TV 'The Frame' has surpassed cumulative sales of 1 million units this year, becoming a 'million seller.'

The Frame is a TV that allows viewers to enjoy over 1,500 famous artworks and photographs from around the world through its dedicated art subscription platform, the 'Art Store.' Sales have been steadily increasing, especially in North America and Europe.

As the 'stay-at-home' trend due to COVID-19 has prolonged, demand for consuming diverse content has grown. Accordingly, a trend has emerged where TVs are used not just as home appliances but as interior decor items, which Samsung Electronics believes has heightened interest in The Frame.

Since its first launch in 2017, The Frame has continuously evolved to reflect consumer tastes and lifestyles. The 2021 model of The Frame features a thickness of 24.9 mm, nearly half slimmer than previous versions, and offers various colors of frame-style bezels to better harmonize with spaces. Consumers can choose between the 'Flat Bezel' in white, teak, and brown colors, and the angular 'Chamfer Bezel' in white and brick red colors according to their preferences. The Chamfer Bezel is available only for the 55- and 65-inch models. Additionally, in July, Samsung introduced an 85-inch extra-large model, completing a lineup ranging from 32 to 85 inches.

Furthermore, the storage capacity for personal photos or images has been expanded from the previous 500MB to 6GB, allowing up to 1,200 photos to be stored in 4K quality.

Sung Il-kyung, Vice President of Samsung Electronics' Visual Display Business Division, said, "The Frame breaks away from the traditional concept of TVs by enhancing the value of spaces and enriching consumers' daily lives. We plan to continue innovating design and functions reflecting consumers' tastes and lifestyles, and to expand collaborations with famous museums and artists."
