[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Cho Hyung-joo] Gwangju University (President Kim Hyuk-jong) announced on the 24th that Professor Choi Sung-kyung of the Department of Nursing was finally selected for the '2021 Individual Basic Research New Project' supported by the National Research Foundation of Korea.
Professor Choi will receive a total of 76 million KRW in funding until February 2024 to conduct research on ‘Development of a Hybrid Learning Model of Core Basic Nursing Skills to Enhance Nurses' Legal Sensitivity.’
Through this research, Professor Choi plans to develop a new type of educational model that incorporates real cases, moving away from the traditional education method of simply memorizing nursing procedures.
In particular, Professor Choi expects that the development of the educational model will help students understand the legal characteristics of nursing skills and improve their ability to perform professional nursing practice.
Professor Choi said, "Although legal issues are increasingly emerging in medical settings recently, the level of legal knowledge and awareness among nurses working on the front lines remains low," adding, "I will conduct this research to cultivate legal sensitivity and contribute to enhancing patient safety."
