[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Cho Hyung-joo] The Institute of Korean Philosophy at Chosun University’s Institute of Humanities announced on the 24th that it will hold an academic conference under the theme "The Theoretical Foundations of 20th Century Korean Philosophy."


The academic conference, scheduled for the 26th in Seminar Room A on the 8th floor of the College of Business and Economics at Chosun University, is organized to study the theoretical establishment of 20th century Korean philosophy, covering concepts of Korean philosophy, its contemporary significance, and ethnic philosophy.


The conference will begin with an opening address by Lee Cheol-seung, director of the Institute of Korean Philosophy at Chosun University, followed by congratulatory remarks from Lee Sang-won, dean of the Global College of Humanities, and then proceed with thematic presentations.


In particular, in-depth discussions are planned on the philosophies of An Jae-hong, Park Jong-hong, Shin Nam-cheol, Ham Seok-heon, and Yoon No-bin, who are regarded as foundational figures in the theory of 20th century Korean philosophy.


Five thematic presentations will be delivered: "Yoon No-bin’s Philosophy of Life and Today’s Korean Reality" by Professor Kim Sung-hoon of Chosun University; "Park Jong-hong’s Korean Thought" by Professor Park Young-mi of Hanyang University; "The Contemporary Significance of Reality Perception in the Liberation Period" by Professor Yoo Hyun-sang of Soongsil University; "Ham Seok-heon’s Transcendental Hermeneutics" by Professor Kim Si-cheon of Sangji University; and "An Jae-hong, an Ethnic Philosophy Aiming for Universality" by Professor Lee Sun-kyung of the Korean Traditional Culture University.


Meanwhile, the Institute of Korean Philosophy at Chosun University’s Institute of Humanities has been conducting various studies related to Korean philosophy, making productive contributions to the field by publishing the Korean Philosophy Series. It also addresses diverse topics in Korean philosophy such as the concept of Korean philosophy, critique, succession, and transformation of traditional philosophy, acceptance, dissemination, and localization of foreign philosophy, exploration of indigenous philosophy, real-world issues and philosophy, and the particularity and universality of philosophy.
