BMT Selected as Lead Institution for Korea-China Joint Energy Research Project... "Development of Eco-Friendly Energy Products"

[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] BMT announced on the 24th that it has been selected as the lead company for technology development in the Korea-China joint energy research support project and has completed the industrial technology innovation project agreement.

This international joint research is supported by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy of Korea and the Ministry of Science and Technology of China. Both countries plan to enhance energy technology competitiveness and develop products related to eco-friendly energy infrastructure such as hydrogen. BMT will collaborate with China’s Beijing New Energy Vehicle Technology Innovation Center Co., Ltd.

Through this project, the company will develop pressure vessels for ultra-high-pressure hydrogen charging and storage systems, high-density fittings, high-pressure regulators, and high-pressure solenoid valves for the Chinese market. The total research and development period is three years, with a total R&D budget of 2.1 billion KRW.

A BMT representative stated, “The Chinese market is accelerating hydrogen energy policies and related industries for carbon neutrality,” adding, “This joint research project will not only demonstrate our international technological capabilities but also serve as an opportunity to increase our market share domestically and internationally.”

BMT is developing valves essential for ultra-high-pressure hydrogen piping systems. It has already completed the development of medium-pressure dual parallel type ‘preforming fittings’ applying patented technology, as well as medium-high-pressure fittings and valve lines. Research and development of ultra-high-pressure (105MPa=1050bar) hydrogen piping valves is underway through a national project. The company’s strategy is to lead the localization of core components for hydrogen infrastructure through this effort.
