On the 23rd (local time), U.S. economic media CNBC reported, "At least 600 Google employees have signed a statement urging management to withdraw the vaccine mandate policy."
Google required approximately 150,000 employees to enter their vaccination status into the company system and submit proof of vaccination by the 3rd of next month, regardless of whether they return to the office.
The employees pointed out that management's demand for vaccination for all employees, including remote workers who are directly or indirectly involved in federal government work, is an excessive measure.
According to the statement obtained by CNBC, the authors criticized, "There are serious flaws in CEO Sundar Pichai's vaccine mandate," and said, "The company management is coercive."
They added, "The vaccine mandate is the opposite of inclusion," and raised their voices, saying, "Employees' healthcare records should not be collected, and the same applies to vaccination status."
They stated that Google's actions could have a significant impact on other companies and that they delivered an open letter to Karen DeSalvo, the company's Chief Health Officer (CHO).
However, a Google spokesperson told CNBC, "The vaccine mandate is one of the most important measures to protect our workforce's safety and to keep our services running," and "We firmly support the vaccine mandate policy."
