On online communities such as Ruliweb and DC Inside, a post titled "Current status of a butcher shop in Gwangju" was uploaded. The photo shared by the author contained the phrase "Today only, 10% discount on Korean pork and Korean beef in commemoration of Jeon Du-hwan's death."

In response, netizens commented, "If the butcher gave a 10% discount, that's really generous," "Boss, let's go half price," and "The boss has a good sense." Most reviews said the store's discount measure was appropriate and brought laughter.

Also, on online communities like Clien and Theqoo, eyewitness accounts and photos titled "A rainbow appeared in Gwangju" were posted. The photo uploaded with the title "As Jeon Du-hwan leaves, a rainbow appears over Gwangju..." showed a rainbow above the Gwangju City Hall.

Comments on the post included "The best news I've seen this year," "What use is a rainbow when Gwangju is grieving," and "It's amazing to see a rainbow at this timing."

Meanwhile, Jeon Du-hwan, known as the top person responsible for the Gwangju massacre in May 1980, died on the 23rd due to an illness. He was 90 years old. On that day, around 8:55 a.m., he was found collapsed in the bathroom of his home in Yeonhui-dong, Seodaemun-gu, Seoul, by his family. At the time of discovery, Jeon was in cardiac arrest. The cause of death has not yet been confirmed.

According to the family’s wishes, Jeon's body will be cremated. The funeral hall has been set up at Sinchon Severance Hospital. The funeral will be a private family ceremony.
