[Asia Economy Reporter Yoon Seul-gi] On the 23rd, a fire broke out at Yangmiok, a long-established restaurant located near Euljiro 3-ga Station, which had been serving Seoul citizens for 29 years. Due to the damage caused by the fire, including the complete destruction of the building, dining appointments at Yangmiok are expected to be impossible for some time.
According to the fire authorities, the fire started on the second floor of Yangmiok and spread down to the first floor, completely burning both floors of the building and spreading to the second floor of an adjacent building. A total of 84 people, including restaurant staff and customers, evacuated, with 2 sustaining minor injuries. No additional casualties have been confirmed so far.
The fire department issued a Level 1 response, mobilizing all personnel from the local fire station, deploying 247 firefighters and 60 vehicles to extinguish the fire.
Yangmiok opened in 1992 in the 'Nopo Street' area of Euljiro. Known as a 'famous restaurant' for its charcoal-grilled gopchang (beef or pork intestines), Yangmiok had been loved by citizens for decades. It is also known that the late former President Kim Dae-jung was a frequent visitor during his lifetime.

As news spread that a fire had occurred at Yangmiok, which had been designated as a 'Living Cultural Heritage' and had coexisted with Seoul citizens, netizens expressed their sorrow.
Netizen A said, "It was a place I really liked; what on earth happened?" and added, "It was the place with the best yangdaechang (beef large intestines) in the country; it's so unfortunate." Another netizen B said, "I always said I would stop by but never did; it's such a shame," and added, "I will definitely visit once Yangmiok is restored."
Meanwhile, fire authorities and the police are investigating the exact cause of the fire and the extent of property damage.
