Yeosu Chamber of Commerce Conducts Blood Donation Campaign for Sharing Love

Supporting the Blood Supply Emergency Due to Decreased Blood Donations

Yeosu Chamber of Commerce Conducts Blood Donation Campaign for Sharing Love

[Yeosu=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Sim Kyung-taek] The Yeosu Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Jeonnam held a blood donation event called "Sharing Love" on the 19th at the parking lot in front of the Yeosu Chamber of Commerce building, with participation from local government offices and companies located in the Yeosu Industrial Complex.

This campaign was organized to help address the emergency blood supply shortage caused by the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, which led to cancellations of group blood donations and a decrease in individual donors.

The Yeosu Chamber of Commerce and Industry planned this event after learning through various media reports that although COVID-19, a respiratory disease, is unrelated to blood infections, the number of blood donors has sharply declined due to concerns about infection.

The event, conducted with the Korean Red Cross Gwangju-Jeonnam Blood Center's "Mobile Blood Donation Bus," strictly followed COVID-19 prevention guidelines, including disinfecting the interior of the blood collection room, conducting temperature checks for participants, mandatory mask-wearing, and hand sanitization. The number of participants was also appropriately staggered by time slots.

The blood donation event, held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., saw voluntary participation from about 60 members of affiliated companies, resident organizations, and employees of the Yeosu Tax Office, practicing the sharing of life despite the local spread of COVID-19.

A representative of the Yeosu Chamber of Commerce and Industry said, "We sincerely thank the member companies, resident organizations, and Yeosu Tax Office employees who voluntarily participated to help our neighbors struggling with blood shortages caused by COVID-19." They added, "Although these are difficult times, we ask for the active participation of local businesses and citizens in saving precious lives through small acts of sharing."
