The 60th Gyeongnam Provincial Sports Festival Opens in Changwon on the 26th... No Audience, Ontact Viewing Conducted Poster for the 60th Gyeongsangnam-do Residents Sports Festival.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Sang-hyun] The 60th Gyeongsangnam-do Residents Sports Festival, a gathering for the unity of Gyeongnam residents, will be held for four days starting from the 26th at Changwon Sports Park and other venues in Changwon City, Gyeongnam.

With about 6,000 participants from 18 cities and counties in Gyeongnam, this event will feature 29 sports disciplines, consisting of 25 for the high school division and 4 for the senior division.

Originally scheduled to be held for four days from May 14, the event was repeatedly postponed due to the COVID-19 situation. However, in line with the government's With-Corona policy, the festival has been confirmed to take place on a reduced scale to accompany Gyeongnam residents in the gradual recovery of daily life.

The competition will be held without spectators at 31 venues. Only those who test negative on a PCR test within 48 hours before the public events and the start of the games will be allowed entry, and if a confirmed case occurs during the competition, the respective sport will be completely suspended.

Additionally, preparations for a safe event include unified entry points at each venue, installation of isolation waiting areas for symptomatic individuals, and operation of nearby key screening clinics.

The opening ceremony will be held without spectators and streamed live across Gyeongnam from 4:30 PM on the 26th via LG HelloVision and the YouTube channel 'Chucheon Changwon'. For the 400 people who pre-registered, participation via the video conferencing platform ZOOM will also be available.

Celebratory performances by local singer Yoo Ho, popular singers Kim Hye-yeon, Kim Jae-hwan, and STAYC will also be featured.

Mayor Heo Seong-moo said, "Through this residents' sports festival, I hope the athletes will fully demonstrate the skills they have honed and achieve good results, and that they will take home many joyful memories from Changwon."
