[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] Nam-gu, Gwangju (Mayor Kim Byeong-nae) is constructing the Yangnim-dong Base Art Travel Center to provide convenience to visitors of Yangnim-dong. With the start of the With-Corona era and the increase in visitors to this place, they have prepared a temporary base space to offer exploration travel services.
On the 23rd, Nam-gu announced, “Ahead of the opening of the Yangnim-dong Base Art Travel Center in February next year, we have prepared a temporary space for the Base Art Travel Center on the basement first floor of the Yangnim-dong Administrative Welfare Center to provide various information to tourists visiting the modern historical and cultural village, and have assigned staff to the center.”
This is because the number of visitors to Yangnim-dong on weekdays and weekends has increased as the phased recovery to daily life policy has been promoted.
The Yangnim-dong Base Art Travel Center, a hub for revitalizing tourism in Yangnim-dong, is scheduled to be located on the first floor of a hanok building for youth creators, currently under construction near Penguin Village, with one basement floor and two above-ground floors.
The center will include a traveler’s rest area, a business room equipped with public Wi-Fi, and workshop spaces.
Nam-gu recently assigned three employees to work at this center to revitalize the tourism industry and the alley economy ahead of the center’s opening in February next year.
The Base Art Travel Center staff are currently providing tourism information to travelers and have begun full-scale service provision, while preparing art travel programs scheduled to be launched next year.
They also plan to introduce tourism cooperation projects linked with local governments and related organizations in other regions.
A Nam-gu official stated, “We are accelerating the establishment of the center so that tourists visiting Yangnim-dong can experience differentiated art tourism compared to other regions through the Base Art Travel Center. Those who need information about the diverse cultural heritage of Yangnim-dong can receive assistance at the temporarily opened center.”
