[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Hye-sun] Golden Blue International announced on the 23rd that it has signed an exclusive import and distribution contract for Molson Coors' flagship lager beer Miller and wheat beer Blue Moon. The currently sold 'Miller' will continue to be distributed by the existing distributor until the inventory is depleted, and with this contract, Golden Blue International plans to begin full-scale distribution from March 2022.
Molson Coors (MCBC) is one of the world's top three beer companies that owns Miller Genuine Draft, well known to Korean consumers. Molson Coors has a portfolio of over 100 products, including global beer brands such as Miller, Blue Moon, Coors Light, as well as partner brands.
Miller is one of the first-generation premium imported beers introduced to Korea and is a representative American lager beer with a history of over 166 years. Blue Moon is an American wheat beer loved by many domestic and international consumers for its recipe that offers sweetness using orange peel.
Golden Blue International expects to gain significant momentum in growth by leveraging synergies in the imported liquor market through the distribution of Miller and Blue Moon. Despite the brands' high recognition, their growth had slowed due to weak consumer engagement. The company plans to aggressively and diversely market these two products, using its sales capabilities and distribution network as weapons, aiming to more than double current sales.
