‘Shutdown’ Lunch Break for Civil Service Issuance Machines... Busan Gijang-gun Confirms Lunch Break Closure Policy Starting January Next Year

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Trainee Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] Busan Gijang-gun will implement a lunch break closure system starting January next year.

From January 1st next year, civil service offices such as the county office and eup/myeon administrative welfare centers will suspend civil service operations for one hour during lunch time, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM.

The lunch break closure system is implemented to guarantee the right of public officials to rest and to provide better civil service to residents.

Gijang-gun plans to minimize confusion and inconvenience for civil petitioners by cooperating with the Busan Regional Headquarters of the National Public Officials Labor Union Gijang-gun Branch to install additional unmanned civil service issuance machines and deploy guides for the lunch break closure system.

Gijang-gun will promote the closure system through online and offline media such as ▲posting banners on the Gijang-gun website, ▲broadcasting call connection tones, ▲displaying on electronic signboards, and ▲putting up banners and posters to build public consensus among residents.

A Gijang-gun official said, “We will continuously monitor residents’ inconveniences to minimize civil service difficulties and do our best to establish the lunch break closure system, so we ask for the understanding of all residents.”
