On the 22nd, GS25 introduced a security system for unmanned convenience stores equipped with artificial intelligence (AI) cameras.
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] GS25 announced on the 23rd that it has introduced an unmanned convenience store security system equipped with artificial intelligence (AI) cameras in collaboration with security company SK Shieldus, the first of its kind in the industry.
This system will be applied starting with about 30 new unmanned convenience stores and will also be implemented in existing unmanned stores and hybrid stores. Each store will be equipped with 6 to 8 AI cameras to detect abnormal situations. In cases where a customer falls or wanders around the store for an extended period, or when a safe or office is opened, the system automatically detects emergencies and connects to SK Shieldus's control center 24 hours a day.
As of last month, GS25 operates a total of 536 unmanned and hybrid stores. Late-night sales at unmanned stores operating overnight have increased by 52% compared to the same period last year, as of October this year.
A GS Retail official said, "The commercialization of this dedicated security system for unmanned convenience stores is significant in providing a groundbreaking solution to unmanned convenience store operators who want a safer operating environment," adding, "We plan to continuously develop various measures to establish a more efficient store operation system."
