KOTRA to Host '2021 Korea Online Export Industry Fair' Starting Next Month on the 1st

[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Hyunjin] The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and KOTRA announced on the 23rd that they will hold the '2021 Korea Online Export Industry Expo' from the 1st to the 15th of next month to support exports for export beginner companies, domestic companies, and small business enterprises.

This event is the largest online marketing project ever, with collaboration from six local governments and 16 cooperative organizations, involving 3,000 domestic companies and more than 5,000 buyers worldwide. The online export industry expo will operate by supporting the production of digital content such as electronic catalogs for small business enterprises, domestic companies, and export beginner companies, then exhibiting products online by category, and conducting online consultations with overseas buyers discovered by KOTRA’s 127 overseas trade offices in 84 countries.

The digital content is produced considering the diverse types of participating companies, reflecting the products and requests of the participants to support the creation of digital content suitable for each company, such as promotional videos and electronic catalogs. Companies in need of government support, such as export beginner companies, domestic companies, and small business enterprises, will receive free production support, while other companies will receive 90% support for production costs.

Each company’s digital content will be linked to the 'Korea Online Export Industry Expo' website, which enables large-scale online consultation matching, and KOTRA’s B2B online platform, BuyKorea. Overseas buyers can check product information, prices, and transaction conditions of our participating companies on the website and platform. Additionally, it is connected to 15 industry-specific online permanent exhibition halls established since last year, supporting the promotion of companies housed in those online exhibition halls.

The online export consultation will be held from the 1st to the 15th of next month. All 127 overseas trade offices in 84 countries under KOTRA will participate to support online consultations for participating companies. Consultations will be held sequentially by region, such as Europe and North America, with interpretation support provided. Furthermore, KOTRA’s big data platform, 'TryBig,' will share a list of promising buyers recommended in advance with companies and trade offices to increase the success rate of matching with buyers.

In addition, side events such as the △B2B Digital Marketing Forum △Exhibition Design Trend Seminar and Job Counseling Session will be held. Moreover, to respond to changes in the digital trade environment, an online overseas marketing education program using digital content will be conducted for domestic companies.

Yoo Jung-yeol, President of KOTRA, said, "The paradigm of trade is changing due to the digital transformation triggered by COVID-19," adding, "Through this 'Korea Online Export Expo,' we will expand the digital export infrastructure for our export beginner companies, domestic companies, and small business enterprises, broaden the base of our export companies, and mobilize all the accumulated online marketing know-how and capabilities to support the exports of our companies."
