[Asia Economy Reporter Yoon Seul-gi] Positive evaluations of President Moon Jae-in's performance in office increased across most age groups, but negative evaluations among those in their 20s reached an all-time high.


According to a regular survey conducted by Dailyan and commissioned to the polling specialist agency Polling Integrity Co., Ltd., 39.5% of respondents positively evaluated President Moon Jae-in's current job performance as president, an increase of 3.7 percentage points compared to the previous week. Negative evaluations decreased by 3.0 percentage points to 59.0% compared to the previous week.

Positive evaluations of the president's performance rose and negative evaluations fell in most age groups. However, among those in their 20s, negative evaluations reached the highest level since the survey began, indicating an acceleration of disaffection among the youth.


Positive evaluations by age group were ▲20s 26.4% (down 2.9%p) ▲30s 41.0% (up 6.3%p) ▲40s 56.4% (up 4.9%p) ▲50s 42.5% (up 1.3%p) ▲60 and older 33.9% (up 7.0%p). Negative evaluations were ▲20s 70.2% (up 0.9%p) ▲30s 58.4% (down 3.3%p) ▲40s 43.6% (down 2.2%p) ▲50s 55.7% (down 2.7%p) ▲60 and older 64.5% (down 5.8%p).


Party support showed simultaneous increases for both the Democratic Party of Korea and the People Power Party. Support for the Democratic Party rose 2.2 percentage points from the previous week to 30.5%, while the People Power Party increased by 2.9 percentage points to 37.1%. The gap between the two parties slightly widened from 5.9 percentage points last week to 6.6 percentage points.


This survey was conducted nationwide on male and female voters from the 19th to 20th using a structured questionnaire via wireless ARS (100%). The overall response rate was 5.5%, with a final total of 1,000 respondents. The sample was extracted using weighted values by gender, age, and region based on the resident registration population as of the end of October this year from the Ministry of the Interior and Safety (rim weighting/applying weights to basic variables in the overall sample).
