Seoul Jung-gu Office Cheonjigaebyeok?... Seoul Makers Park and Administrative Complex Building Kickoff Report and Jung-gu Printing Cluster Launch Bird's-eye view of the Administrative Complex Building

[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Jung-gu, Seoul (Mayor Seoyangho) announced that it will hold the 'Seoul Makers Park (SMP) and Administrative Complex Building Project Kick-off Meeting and Printing Cluster Groundbreaking Ceremony' at 2 p.m. on the 26th at the Jung-gu Office Lawn Plaza.

Following the preliminary feasibility study approval of the 'Seoul Makers Park (SMP) and Administrative Complex Building Project' last September, the kick-off meeting marking the start of the project and the groundbreaking ceremony for the Printing Smart Anchor, the first step of the Jung-gu printing cluster, will be held simultaneously.

The groundbreaking ceremony is expected to be attended by Prime Minister Kim Boo-kyum, National Assembly member Park Sung-jun, Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) President Kim Hyun-joon, Dongguk University President Yoon Sung-yi, printing industry and cultural arts sector officials, and local residents.

The 'Seoul Makers Park (SMP) and Administrative Complex Building Project' aims to provide a hub facility that can solve administration, industry, culture, and housing in a one-stop manner through resident-centered public facility relocation and complex development.

The Seoul Makers Park (SMP) will be built on the current Jung-gu Office site with a total floor area of approximately 80,000㎡, consisting of 6 basement floors and 29 above-ground floors, housing the Printing Industry Support Center, Chungmu Art Center, public housing, and other facilities to serve as an anchor for urban industry support, development, and cultural arts revitalization.

The 'Administrative Complex,' which will be relocated and constructed in the Sindang area (current Chungmu Art Center site) where 70% of Jung-gu residents live, will have a total floor area of about 85,000㎡, with 6 basement floors and 16 above-ground floors. It will include the district office, district council, library, sports center, daycare center, and other resident convenience facilities along with public housing, providing resident-oriented one-stop administrative services.

The Seoul Makers Park (SMP) and Administrative Complex are scheduled for completion in 2025, and the groundbreaking of the Printing Smart Anchor marks the first step toward this goal.

The Printing Smart Anchor, which will serve as a public support hub for urban manufacturing industries alongside Seoul Makers Park, will be an anchor facility equipped with one-stop manufacturing infrastructure covering planning, production, and marketing. It will be built on a 1,200㎡ site at 85-5 Mareunnae-ro, Jung-gu, with 3 basement floors and 12 above-ground floors.

Both the Seoul Makers Park (SMP) and the Administrative Complex will include small-scale public housing units, with 343 units and 296 units respectively. This aligns with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's 5th and 6th real estate measures, which focus on utilizing idle urban land and complexing aging public facilities to supply living SOC and public housing. By providing over 600 units of public housing near urban railway stations in Seoul’s city center, it is expected to significantly alleviate housing difficulties for urban industry workers and young people, as well as contribute greatly to solving the chronic urban hollowing-out problem in the old city center.

Seoyangho, Mayor of Jung-gu, said, "I am very pleased to hold this event to declare the start of urban space innovation through the relocation and complex development of public facilities," adding, "We will fully reflect residents' opinions during the process and make every effort to ensure smooth progress until completion."
