Gyeongnam Christian Culture Center Selects 3 Winners for the '3rd Gyeongnam Christian Culture Awards'

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Sang-hyun] The Gyeongnam Christian Culture Center announced on the 22nd that it has selected the winners of the '3rd Gyeongnam Christian Culture Award.'


The Gyeongnam Christian Culture Award is a prestigious award given to pastors and laypeople who have made significant contributions to the development of Christian culture over the past year. The recipients will receive a plaque and a prize of 2 million KRW.


The winners in the pastoral category are Pastor Kang Young-sik (Emeritus Pastor of Changwon Gaeumjeong Church), in the culture and arts category Mr. Jang Ki-hong (Retired Elder of Masan Jungang Methodist Church), and in the social service category Ms. Jeong Young-sook (Retired Evangelist of Masan Seongmak Church).

Gyeongnam Christian Culture Center Selects 3 Winners for the '3rd Gyeongnam Christian Culture Awards' The winner of the 3rd Gyeongnam Christian Culture Award in the Pastoral category is Senior Pastor Kang Young-sik of Changwon Gaeumjeong Church.

Pastor Kang served as the senior pastor at Changwon Gaeumjeong Church for 27 years, working diligently for church revival and the development of local Christianity. After retiring in 2011, he was dispatched as a missionary to Cambodia, where he was recognized for his contributions in missionary work and establishing a theological seminary.

Gyeongnam Christian Culture Center Selects 3 Winners for the '3rd Gyeongnam Christian Culture Awards' Cultural and Arts Award Recipient: Jang Gi-hong, Retired Elder of Masan Jungang Methodist Church.

Elder Jang devoted his life to serving as a choir conductor at the church and, while working as a teacher at Masan Jungang Middle School, led efforts to promote art songs through singing campaigns. He also served as the branch head of the Masan Music Association, contributing significantly to the local arts community.

Gyeongnam Christian Culture Center Selects 3 Winners for the '3rd Gyeongnam Christian Culture Awards' Social Service Division Masan Seongmak Church Jeong Youngsuk Retired Evangelist.

Evangelist Jeong served at Masan Seongmak Church and founded the Good Samaritan Mission, volunteering for 30 years to provide mental education to inmates at Changwon Prison. Additionally, she volunteered for 19 years counseling patients at the Sarangsaem Community, a rehabilitation center for alcoholics.


The Christian Culture Award ceremony will be held at 5 p.m. on the 6th of next month at the Grand Mercure Ambassador Changwon.
