Cube Entertainment collaborates with The Sandbox... "Metaverse discussions"

[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] Cube Entertainment announced on the 22nd that on the 17th, it discussed collaboration on metaverse business with Sebastien Borget, CEO of The Sandbox, a subsidiary of Animoca Brands.


The Sandbox is a company that provides the metaverse platform 'The Sandbox,' based on blockchain and non-fungible token (NFT) technology. It is a subsidiary of Animoca Brands. To date, The Sandbox has recorded over 500,000 registered wallets, more than 12,000 LAND owners, and sales exceeding approximately 170 billion KRW.


It is a global metaverse platform that has formed partnerships with over 165 brands such as Pororo, K-League, Snoop Dogg, The Walking Dead, The Smurfs, Care Bears, Atari, and Crypto Kitties to implement each brand's worldview and characters in 3D within The Sandbox's metaverse.


Sebastien Borget, CEO of The Sandbox, said, "The Sandbox is expanding its metaverse worldview by collaborating with partners from various industries beyond gaming," adding, "Since K-POP content has played a very important role in the global content flow, we look forward to collaborating with Cube Entertainment."


Cube Entertainment CEO Ahn Woohyung stated, "Cube Entertainment discovers talented individuals and develops them into excellent artists with both character and skills through a specialized training system, producing outstanding content that can compete in the global market," and added, "Through collaboration with The Sandbox, we plan to create a genuine communication space within the metaverse for creators and players, diversifying ways for artists and fans to connect."


Meanwhile, in the 110 billion KRW Series B investment round conducted by The Sandbox on the 2nd, companies such as SoftBank, LG Technology Ventures, Samsung NEXT, Com2uS, Liberty City Ventures, and Galaxy Interactive participated. Last month, The Sandbox Korea was established to discover and support Korea's high-quality creators and game development studios, and plans to reflect Korean users' feedback in its global service.
