[Asia Economy Reporter Buaeri] Car-sharing platform Socar announced on the 22nd that it has appointed Ryu Seok-moon, former Development Director at Riot Games Korea, as its Chief Technology Officer (CTO).
CTO Ryu began his career as a software developer at LG Electronics and Handisoft, then served as Head of the Map and Location Service Development Lab at NHN, and Director at NHN Technology Services. Later, he worked as Technical Director at Riot Games Korea, gaining experience in software development and organizational management across various industries.
CTO Ryu plans to focus on turning diverse technologies into services that enhance user value at Socar. He said, "I look forward to participating in the rapidly evolving mobility sector at Socar," adding, "Talented professionals from Korea and abroad will develop technologies that provide fundamental solutions for human mobility at Socar and commercialize them."
Meanwhile, Socar recorded a 44% growth in revenue from its car-sharing business in the third quarter, achieving profitability through optimization of mobility technology and usage data. Socar operates 17,000 vehicles across 4,000 Socar Zones in 110 cities nationwide, based on a contactless service platform.
