[Asia Economy Reporter Changhwan Lee] Genesis, Hyundai Motor Company's luxury brand, is reportedly planning to showcase only electric vehicles at the country's largest automotive exhibition, the '2021 Seoul Mobility Show,' opening this week.
According to industry sources on the 21st, Genesis is expected to fill a 1,000㎡ exhibition hall with eight electric vehicles at the Seoul Mobility Show, which opens on the 25th at KINTEX in Ilsan.
Genesis will unveil the GV70 electrified model, scheduled for release in the first half of next year, for the first time in Korea. This model was globally unveiled for the first time at the Guangzhou Motor Show in China on the 19th.
The GV70 electrified model is a reborn premium mid-size electrified SUV that maintains the design, convenience, and safety features of the existing GV70, equipped with a 77.4kWh battery and motors delivering a maximum output of 160 kW each on the front and rear axles.
The driving range on a single charge exceeds 400 km, and with a 350 kW ultra-fast charger, the battery can be charged from 10% to 80% in 18 minutes. Applying the boost mode, which increases instantaneous maximum output, the vehicle accelerates from a standstill to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds.
In addition to the GV70 electrified model, the X Concept car, G80 electrified model, and the dedicated electric vehicle GV60 will also be introduced at the Genesis exhibition hall.
In September, Genesis announced its goal to release only hydrogen and battery electric vehicles for all new cars after 2025, complete its entire lineup as a carbon emission-free lineup by 2030, and achieve carbon neutrality by 2035.
