"Nurse Taeeum" vs "Family Matter Presumed"... Uijeongbu Eulji University Hospital Requests 'Police Investigation' Uijeongbu Eulji University Hospital

[Asia Economy Reporter La Young-chul] Regarding the 'nurse death' incident at Uijeongbu Eulji University Hospital, the hospital has officially requested a police investigation in response to the bereaved family's allegations of 'nurse ta-eum' (workplace bullying).

Uijeongbu Eulji University Hospital stated on the 20th, "To resolve the bereaved family's suspicion that 'nurse ta-eum' was the cause of death, and to ensure a fair investigation, we have decided to officially request a police investigation following an internal inquiry through the Truth-Finding Committee."

Eulji University Hospital explained, "We deeply mourn the tragic death of Nurse A (24), who worked alongside us, and made this decision to conduct a fair and thorough investigation so that no injustice occurs to the bereaved family, colleagues, or anyone else."

Hospital Director Yoon Byung-woo expressed, "We sincerely offer our condolences to the bereaved family, and if there is any problem within the organization, we will deal with it strictly without leniency," emphasizing the commitment to prevent recurrence and improve organizational culture.

Previously, the hospital had presumed that Nurse A's extreme choice was due to family or personal issues, which led to strong protests from the bereaved family accusing the hospital of 'avoiding responsibility.'

Meanwhile, Nurse A was found dead in the hospital dormitory on the 16th.

Nurse A, who had been working for seven months, reportedly made an extreme choice after complaining about work-related stress during a phone call with her boyfriend.

The bereaved family and acquaintances claim, "Evidence of so-called 'ta-eum' was found on Nurse A's mobile phone," and argue that "Nurse A was driven to death due to excessive workload and workplace harassment."

In particular, Nurse A's colleagues reportedly claimed that "some senior nurses harassed Nurse A by throwing hospital charts and publicly humiliating her."

The bereaved family also raised suspicions that the hospital rejected Nurse A's request to change her duties, citing staff shortages as the reason.

Furthermore, regardless of the hospital's internal investigation, the bereaved family plans to reveal the truth about the 'ta-eum' damage through a national petition and file criminal charges against the perpetrators of the harassment.
