Songpa-gu Launches Future-Oriented Bus Stop 'Smart Shelter'... Kickstarting Smart City Development

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Songpa-gu (Mayor Seongsu Park) is accelerating the construction of a ‘smart city’ by integrating advanced information and communication technology (ICT) into everyday infrastructure such as roads and electricity, enabling residents to enjoy a convenient and comfortable life.

Since March, the district has been promoting the installation of smart facilities on Jamsil-ro and Ogeum-ro around Songpa-gu Office in connection with the ‘KT Songpa Branch Complex Facility Development Project Road Maintenance Construction’ to provide residents with a convenient and safe transportation environment by applying advanced technology close to daily life.

Accordingly, on the 19th, the ‘smart shelter’ built on the central bus lane stop on Ogeum-ro in Songpa-gu will be officially opened.

The ‘smart shelter’ is a future-oriented bus stop that integrates various convenience facilities such as an automatic stop guidance system, air purifier, UV air curtain, CCTV, heating and cooling system, wireless phone charging, and Wi-Fi.

The newly opened ‘smart shelter’ has transformed from a previously outdated bus stop into a future-oriented bus stop by introducing the latest information and communication technologies (ICT) such as artificial intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT), resolving inconveniences experienced in daily life due to seasonal and weather influences.

In particular, the newly introduced ‘smart shelter’ is expected to ensure the convenience and safety of residents using the bus stop by featuring ▲solar-powered roofs ▲environmentally friendly air purifiers ▲heating and cooling systems ▲screen doors ▲IP emergency bells ▲and AI-controlled bus platform stop guidance systems.

Prior to this, the district also enhanced the pedestrian environment by installing two ‘smart poles’ combining streetlights, CCTV, and public Wi-Fi functions around Ogeum-ro and Jamsil-ro near Songpa-gu Office, as well as installing ‘floor-type pedestrian traffic lights’ on Ogeum-ro.

Seongsu Park, Mayor of Songpa-gu, stated, “In line with the diversifying trends of the times, we will do our best to create ‘Smart City’ Songpa by integrating advanced technology close to daily life, such as smart shelters and smart poles, to provide residents with a safe and enriched life.”
