[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] On the 17th, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed concern regarding Russia's test of an 'anti-satellite missile' that destroyed a satellite with a missile, generating a large amount of space debris.


The spokesperson office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated, "We express concern about the anti-satellite missile test conducted on the 15th, especially regarding the large amount of space debris generated by this test."


They added, "We urge all countries to act responsibly in space, to use space peacefully and sustainably in the long term, and to cooperate in the development of relevant international norms."


According to major foreign media, Russia launched a missile from the ground on the 15th and precisely shot down a low Earth orbit reconnaissance satellite, scattering more than 1,500 fragments into space.
