The 18th Nae Nara Travel Expo to be Held from 18th to 21st

[Asia Economy Reporter Donghyun Choi] The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, together with the Korea Tourism Association, will hold the ‘2021 Nae Nara Travel Expo’ at the AT Center in Seoul from the 18th to the 21st.

Launched in 2004 and now in its 18th year, the ‘Nae Nara Travel Expo’ is Korea’s representative domestic travel expo, attracting nearly 100,000 visitors annually. This year’s expo, themed ‘Travel Vaccine (100 Scene) for the Recovery and Leap of Domestic Tourism,’ will feature about 200 exhibition halls and experience programs operated by local governments and the Korea Tourism Organization, offering diverse and valuable travel information from across the country, including domestic travel content changed after COVID-19.

The exhibition halls are organized into ▲‘Regional Hall’ introducing various local tourism resources ▲‘Policy Hall’ promoting tourism policies such as smart tourism ▲‘Theme Hall’ introducing new travel cultures ▲‘Viewty Photo Zone’ where visitors can experience famous domestic travel photo spots.

Programs that visitors can directly participate in will also be held. These include ‘Travel Expo Tour with Docents,’ where travel experts introduce interesting and small stories about regions; ‘Selfie Master Life Shot Lecture,’ teaching how to take great photos with beautiful scenery as a backdrop; and ‘Viewty Interview,’ where local celebrities introduce regional travel (photo) spots and popular restaurants. These programs will welcome visitors daily.

Various online and offline events will also take place. Events include a ‘Pre-registration Event’ to receive free admission tickets to the expo, a ‘Social Media Word-of-Mouth Event’ spreading news of the expo via social networking services (SNS), a ‘Stamp Tour Event’ where visitors collect stamps after visiting exhibition halls, ‘Making Travel Message Toppers’ where participants create travel messages for themselves, a ‘Hashtag (#) Certification Event’ registering photos taken at the ‘Theme Hall’ and ‘Viewty Photo Zone,’ and ‘Open the Travel Suitcase (Carrier)’ where participants open a locked travel bag. Prizes will be awarded to participants through a drawing.

The opening ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. on the 18th, and more detailed information about the expo can be found on the official website.

Kim Jang-ho, Director of Tourism Policy Bureau at the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said, “This expo was prepared to provide useful information about domestic regional travel spots in response to the expected surge in travel demand as phased daily recovery is implemented. We hope that a return to daily life where all citizens can travel more freely without masks will come as soon as possible.”
